1/17/2024 0 Comments Saturn ion redline suspensionIll have the entire coolant system flushed and new hoses. Last few mods i might put on is that over sized radiator zzp sells. Then do the ZZP stage 3 with a 2.8" pulley, 60# injector, dual SC heat exchanger (ill replace the pump if needed) and the ZZP REDLINE S3 HEAT EXCHANGER. They can be plugged, used for methanol injection, and/or an extra vacuum port.) Then since i already got a zzp CAI and a 2.5 "magnaflow catback ill prob get a shorty header and a zzp 2.5" down pipe. It comes with two 1/8" NPT ports and two 1/8" NPT plugs. This spacer features an integrated O-ring which eliminates sealing issues and the need for a second gasket between the blower and spacer. Once im back in action ill probably get the lower intake manifold spacer (thatll drop drop IAT's by about 25%ish.) LSJ M62 SPACER PLATE (1/2" aluminum spacer plate that raises your blower for improved airflow into the lower intake manifold. With new redline fluid itll be practically a rebuilt trans lol. Might as well go short shifter mod and new cables to go with my self adjusting clutch kit and fidanza lightened aluminum flywheel. Changed thst clip from plastic to galvanized steel, got that lsj bracket that all it is is aluminum where the rubber is on the regular bracket, im probably gonna swap out rubber shifter assembly bushings with zzp's solid aliminum ones as well. I wouldve still bought it as i have a self adjusting clutch kit, zzp's fidanza lightened flywheel also to go on.Įh im trying to purge as much of that saturn plastic and rubber they like to use. So i think the transmission was meh and he didnt wanna deal with it. HID 55W 6000k digital ballast headlights. Red top optima battery, 10" sub in the trunk 1000watt amp, all sony speakers and head unit. Its black, with tinted tail lights, 17" lighter racing rims black with new dunlops and new hawk brake pads all around. 2006 ion redline with zzp cold air intake, magnaflow catback exhaust, race suspension. Im hoping thats it but i fear that extra burn on the clutch will need attending to anyways. The fact it was slipping in every gear makes me think clutch and TOB are shot completely OR my new theory is i had an effed up crappy plastic thing on the back of the clutch pedal that wasnt disengaging the clutch completely causing it to prematurely burn up and slip like a mofo and just so happened to break on that one shift into 4th and when i pushed down the final time to go into 5th it didnt disengage causing tension in the linkage breaking that plastic piece holding the cables causing a loose shifter and also why it will not disengage now. I really home i didnt eff up the internals or something. I slowed down very slow and gradual with no sudden jolting and had it towed home. I was beginning to think the cables are trashed somewhere along the lines but that doesnt explain it being stuck it gear completely. This is one of the mods that helps ZZP cars cut. This solid one will firm up the cable to linkage engagement allowing more precise gear changes. Says The factory bracket has rubber bushings making the shifter feel mushy. Also i ordered the LSJ revised shifter bracket from zzp. Theres no leaks at all under the car and it still rolls forward when trying to start it. So i got a revised galvanized steel linkage holder installed now. It was that crappy plastic piece shift linkage that saturns uses for everything that fails. Not sure if it comes with the slave cylinder but do u think that will solve my issue? Please help any suggestions? Last week we ordered an entire self adjusting clutch kit with throw out bearing and an after market flywheel. Also that doesnt explain why it would roll with the clutch pushed it. My father and i took the center console out and found a plastic piece that hooks to the shifter with metal inside that was kind of mangled but were not sure what its called to replace it. Also i had the car off as i was on the side of the road and even though the gear shifter flopped freely from 3rd to 4th (i believe it was stuck in 4th) i presses the clutch to the floor and tried to start it and it just rolls forward. Back to the story, i was driving home and as i took the car out of 4th it would not go in any other gear but would loosely flop forward and backward with no resistance between 3rd and 4th but would not go left or right at all. But if i hit the gas to pass someone it would slip and then eventually catch. And by slip i mean the rpms would shoot up unless i feathered the gas until the rpms would drop to normal range. A little history on this 05 saturn ion redline, when i first bought it, it would slip in every gear. but wjen i tried to put it in 5th or any other gear it would not go, but it would be fine in 4th. I was driving home the other day and was in 4th for a while.
